Louis XVI Carved Oak Window Seat


Description:
A Louis XVI carved oak and tapestry upholstered window seat, circa 1780, the 17th century coverings possibly Mortlake work: and cut from a larger panel, depicting twin putti supporting a floral swag; the rectangular seat with ogee shaped ends, above a frieze with central projecting bellflower carved tablet, flanked by Vitruvian scrolling in recessed relief on four square section tapered legs.
